Telstra’s goal was to create a new, world-class concept where customers and staff can experience a ‘Brilliant Connected Future’ and ‘Improve the way our people live and work’. Following the successful implementation of the Store of the Future concept in the Melbourne Central store, Telstra commissioned Geyer to design a new flagship store concept located on George Street, Sydney and opened in November 2014.

Forefront of the market - worldwide


Telstra had an ambitious goal: to put Telstra at the forefront of their market worldwide. But this breath-taking ambition was based on a fundamental realisation: while people go online to research their new gadgets, they go in store to buy them.

Crafting a unique sense of place


The goal of Telstra’s exceptional new flagship stores was a design and environment where tech brought customers, staff, and Telstra’s products, together.

Customers and staff


Geyer worked closely with Telstra and digital technology specialists Downstream to develop a new retail experience that focussed not only on customers, but on the staff.

Physical and digital come together


The resulting design brought the physical and digital worlds come together. In store, customers can choose how they find information about Telstra’s products. This may be through speaking to a Telstra assistant, phoning customer service, going online, or using interactive digital tools. For example, to compare Telstra’s phones, customers can use the sandpit, an interactive touchscreen tabletop. They simply put a display phone on it to see the price, battery life and other features.

Past and future


Telstra expanded its ground floor space with the acquisition of an adjoining iconic building that provided opportunity for an impactful and interactive space through juxtaposing the stunning heritage building with present and future focused digital and interactive, immersive experiences.
